For others, it is the perfect way to improve their self esteem and self confidence and for some others its the perfect way to mirror their hairstyle. Westerners prefer hairstyles that are open and free while Asian women prefer to tie their hair in various types of buns and up-dos. Women of the orient are fond of this type of hairstyle based on their history and upbringing.

Styling geisha hair into bun styles is easy and there are many different styles one can choose from. Some of the most popular Asian bun styles are the half bun, the Chinese braided bun, the Japanese big bun, the sock bun, the cinnamon bun, the loose bun and the figure-eight bun. Each type of bun has its own charm and technique. There are also different beautiful accessories that are added as adornments.

One very popular hairstyle accessory is the hairstick, which are often mistakenly known to Westerners as chop sticks. Ornamental sticks were used in Egypt centuries ago and were commonly made of ivory, wood, silver, gold and various other metals. They were also very common with the Japanese, Greeks and Romans. Later, these accessories made their way to China where they became globally popular.

Traditionally, ornamental sticks are still quite popular in both China and Japan. In Japan, for instance, Kanzashi, is a traditional accessory. Kanzashi is most popular for its use by Geisha women who adorned their buns with ornamental sticks. This type of hairstyle is very traditional but is very well loved and adored by this modern generation.

Geisha hair styles is a long or mid-length hairstyle. Persons with shorter length can add extensions for body. In order to do this traditional style, a styling cream is added. Then it is combed and teased to create volume. Next, it is put in a high ponytail using a special foundation and is then secured with a small bobby pin. Sections are then tucked and wrapped into the foundation and then ornamental sticks are added as decoration.
